The dramatic slope of the property for this house posed the sort of engineering challenge we take pride in solving. More than 100 truck loads of rock were imported, compacted by machine and graded under the supervision of a geotechnical engineer to improve elevations for construction. Access to the main entrance on the other side of the house is via a bridge built of cedar decking and supported by large beams. This home also has some heavy timbers in the roof structure and interesting detailing in the beams and rafters, both inside and out. The cabinets and numerous built-ins are works of art. Heat is provided by a heat pump with electric backup. The wood windows and doors are craftsman built and show off the incredible view of Saltspring Island.
